New card with Digital stamps

Hello!  I am really excited to be blogging about this card.  This has to be one of my new favorite cards to assemble lately because it is so simple to make and the ideas you can use seem to be endless.  Don't you just LOVE when this happens!?!?! The Seahorse Stamp Set is a digital stamp that I used to make this card.

  • One 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" piece of cardstock
  • One 3" x 8" piece of cardstock
  • One 2 3/4" x 4" pieces of cardstock or designer paper (optional)
  • One 4" x 5 1/4" piece of of cardstock or designer paper (optional)
  • One 2 3/4" x 4" piece of cardstock or designer paper (optional)
  • Additional cardstock
  • Scoring tool
  • Adhesive
  • Stamps
  • Ink
  1. Score your 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" piece of cardstock at 5 1/2". This is my dark brown card stock.  Then I took my embossing folder and embossed the 3" side and corner rounded the corners.

  2. Score your 3" x 8" piece of cardstock at 4".  I folded my cardstock on my scored line and took my "Wonky" spellbinders and left the creased edge right under where the end cuts and then sent it through the Cuttlebug to cut out the wonky rectangle.

  3. On your 4"x  5 1/4" piece of paper I sponged a brown ink with a dauber to give it some definition.  Adhere your 4" x 5 1/4" piece of designer paper on the inside of the card.

  4. I took the next smallest Wonky spellbinder than what I used before and cut out one piece from the paper I used for the background of the 4" x 5 1/4".  I sponged those using the same brown ink and dauber as before. Then adhere it to the inside of the 3"x8" folded cardstock piece.  On the front of this I printed the quote from the digital stamp collection and cut it out using a different Spellbinders.  I took the next size up of the same spellbinders and cut the same design from my background paper.  I daubed the edges with the same brown ink and adhered the same shaped images together and adhered it to the front of the 3"x8" Wonky rectangle.
  5. Add adhesive to the back of your smaller flap and tape it to the inside of the card. Make sure the fold of the smaller flap is pointing to the right.
  6. To secure the flap from opening I used the pink seahorse from the digital stamp collection above and adhered it to the front of the card with dimensionals slightly over the edge of the smaller flap to keep it closed.
  7. Print and adhere another seahorse to the inside of the card and you are ready to write your note.

As you can see this card is very simple to put together and takes no time at all!  Hope you enjoyed this card.

Tulips part 4

Hello everyone!  Welcome to my crafting blog.  If you are just joining this series then welcome to spring in December!  I have been using a stamp set from Sparkle N Sprinkle and this is the fourth card I have made with Tulips Stamp Set.  The more I play around with this stamp set the more I love it!  There is so much you can do with it.  All of these cards are simple.  I feel that some times when we see a bigger stamp like the three tulips together one thinks they have to use the whole image and use the whole image together.  Here is a card where the whole image of the tulip is used.

Here is what you need to make this card.
Yellow card stock 4 1/4 x 5 1/2
Light blue card stock cut into three pieces measuring 1 5/8 x 3 3/8
Dark blue card stock cut into three pieces measuring 1 1/2 x 3 1/4
White piece of card stock
Dots embossing folder
Spellbinders Labels 14
Snow glitter
Black ink pad
VersaMark pad
adhesive
Dimensional tape
Dauber
Color tools of your choice

I stamped my tulip image and colored it.  Then using your Sakura Glue pen  go over the lines at the bottom of the tulips and sprinkle with snow glitter.  Set that aside to dry.  Using your VersaMark ink and the "Just a Note" sentiment from the Tulips Stamp Set stamp and emboss with the Cappuccino Embossing powder.

Cut your sentiment using the smallest of the Spellbinders Labels 14.  Now it's time to daub the edges of the sentiment and the 3 dark blue 1 1/2 x 3 1/4 pieces of card stock using your black ink.  I did not daub the edges of my sentiment very heavily.  In the picture above you can see the corner of one of the dark blue pieces of card stock and how more pronounced the black daubed edges are.

Cut out your tulips that should be dry by now.  Adhere the tulips to the dark blue pieces of card stock. Adhere the dark blue pieces of card stock to the light blue card stock.  Now, using your Dots embossing folder emboss your yellow piece of card stock.  Here is a picture of the back side of the embossed card stock.  I didn't know if the detail would show up well in the other pictures and I wanted to you see the texture we were adding to the card.

We can now adhere the tulips we mounted on our blue card stock to the front of the yellow embossed card stock.  Use dimensional tape when adhering your sentiment.

Here are some more images.

Tulips from Sparkle N Sprinkle 3rd post

Hello!  If you haven't been following my blog until now, welcome!  I have been doing a series of cards using Sparkle N Sprinkle Tulips Stamp Set.  This is a really pretty stamp set they have.

This is an easel card that I made.  It looks harder than it really is.  I used the template here and it ended up being a 4x4 (just click on the word template).  Here are the list of supplies that you will need.

2 pieces of purple card stock in the sized of 4 x 8 and 4 x 4
Coordinating piece of card stock 3 3/4 x 3 3/4
White strip of card stock 3/4 x 4
Ribbon
Snow glitter
Black ink pad
VersaMark ink pad
adhesive
dimensional tape
1 1/8 circle punch
Label 17 Spellbinders
Colors
Dauber

Assemble the base of your card.  Daub the edges of your coordinating 3 3/4 x 3 3/4 card stock and adhere to the front panel of the easel card.  Stamp your tulip image and color.  Then using the Sakura glue pen trace along the lines of the tulips at the bottom of the flower.  Sprinkle with the snow glitter and allow that time to dry.  I suggest doing one flower at a time so you don't let your glue dry before you get your glitter on there.

While the glitter dries on your flowers you can work on the white strip that goes on the base of the easel card.  Taking the word "Tulip" stamp and your VersaMark ink pad stamp the word tulip going across the 3/4 x 4 piece of white card stock.  I stamped the word four times across.  Then emboss with the concord embossing powder.

Then on a scrap piece of white card stock, stamp the word Tulip with your black ink.  Using your Sakura glue pen again, trace the letters and glitter with the Eggplant glitter.  Daub the edges of the embossed 3/4 x 4 white card stock with your black ink.  Punch out your glittered word Tulip with the 1 1/8 inch circle punch and daub the edges of it when it is dry.  Adhere the white strip of card stock to the base of your easel card and then using dimensional tape adhere the glittered word Tulip over one of your embossed words.

Now, back to the flowers that should be dry now.  Using the Spellbinders label 17 set, cut out the flowers and daub the edges of the cut out image with your black ink.  Adhere to the front on your card keeping in mind that you are adding ribbon to the bottom.  Add your ribbon and don't forget to adhere it to the card and enjoy your creation!  I hope this helps to brighten some one's day!

Pocket Cards- Tulips part 2

Hello!  Here is another card I made using the Tulips Stamp Set from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  I found myself wanting to do something different with the sentiment in this set.  I think I also put too much thought sometimes into my cards.  Here is why, bear with my random wondering here. :>  The sentiment states, "Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending" by Maria Robinson.  We are surrounded by analogies of circles.  I was taught to make life cycle diagrams in circles as kid.  Then as a youth I was taught that my life is like a rain drop.  Once it hits the water the ripples are the effect you have on what you come into contact with, which the ripples of a water drop happen to be... circles.  You have circle of friends and so the analogy continues.  Well, with this quote and the analogies of circles you can't go back to the beginning to start over but you can start new today, a new circle that encompasses the old.  All that to say this was the inspiration for this card.

How to make this card:

4 1/2 x 10 1/2 pink card stock
4 1/8 x 3 3/8 white card stock
3/4 x 11 black card stock
Tulips Stamp Set
Black ink pad
VersaMark pad
Silver Detail Embossing Powder
Colors (water color pencils, Copics, etc)
Dauber
Spellbinders Labels 17
Darice circle in circles embossing folder
adhesive
dimensional tape

First take your pink card stock and score lines at 3 1/2 and 7.  I then embossed the pink card stock with my circle in circles embossing folder.  The whole piece of card stock will not fit in the embossing folder so I tried to line it up with my score lines.  After embossing the card stock cut your 3 1/2 end panels from score line to opposing end of paper.  Then when you fold on the score lines you will have the pocket part of our card.  Adhere the bottom of your card together.  Take your black 3/4 x 11 piece of card stock and fold around the pink card stock to make our belly band.  Do not adhere the belly band to the pink card stock yet.  I would recommend you wait until you have your sentiment to be sure it is centered but go ahead and adhere the black card stock together to make a band with the fold in the front of the card (it will be hidden by the sentiment).  Now, on a white piece of card stock stamp the sentiment from the Tulips Stamp Set with the VersaMark stamp pad and emboss using the Silver detail embossing powder.  Cut out sentiment with Spellbinders Label 17 and daub the edges with black ink.  Adhere to the center of the belly band and center of the pink pocket card.  Now the pocket and sentiment part of your card should be complete.

Now for the part that slips into the pocket part of the card.  I stamped the tulips stamp on a extra piece of paper and colored the middle tulip and cut it out.  Then I adhered it to the front middle of my 4 1/8 x 3 3/8 white card stock with dimensional tape.  I then used the sentiment "Just a note" from the same tulip stamp set and stamped it on the bottom corner of my card stock.  Then I daubed the edges of the white card stock with black ink.

Thank you for reading this post and making it through my thought process of making this card!

Tulips

Hello to all!  I hope that those of you reading this are ready for a wonderful and relaxing Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year!  I know our family is really enjoying this time of year in our new location.  Just a quick update on our family.  We are settled in our new home and are adjusting as best as possible to the new weather conditions!  :>  For those of you unaware, we moved from the warm sunny state of Florida to the cold state of North West Ohio!  I have been able to do a little stamping using  Sparkle N Sprinkle's fairly new stamp set out.  So for the next couple of weeks I will be posting two new cards to my blog using their Tulips Stamp Set

This first card is an experiment.  A friend of mine has been playing with mixed media and I love the idea of mixed media so I wanted to play with it.   As you can see this card is very simply yet I think it turned out fairly well.  I love the splash of color with the monochromatic color scheme.

The following items are used to make this card:

Black 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card stock
White 1 3/4 x 4 1/4 card stock
Ribbon
Book page
Hello Spring stamp
Black stamp pad
Aqua stamp pad
VersaMark pad
Clear embossing powder
Dauber
Cuttlebug D'vine Swirls embossing folder
Spellbinders label 14
adhesive
dimensional tape

I embossed my black piece of card stock using Cuttlebug D'vine swirls folder.  Stamp your sentiment on your white piece of card stock using your black ink.  I then daubed the edge of my white card stock with the color that matched my ribbon the best.  Tie your ribbon around the white piece of card stock and then adhere the ribbon to the card stock.  Then add the white card stock that has been prepared to the from bottom of your black card stock.  Now, using the Tulips Stamp Set and the VersaMark ink pad stamp your tulip image to the book page *note- scan your page for inappropriate words* and then emboss with your clear powder and heat.  You will not be able to see your image all that well.

Take your dauber and black ink pad and smearing in circles expose your embossed image.  You can play with this and make certain areas darker than other.  Then take a dry wipe and wipe off the ink on the embossed image and your image should look sharper now.  I then took my Spellbinders and cut the image out, notice I cut off some of the picture, mainly the stems and leaves, for it to fit on my card front.    I took my dauber and black ink again and softened the edges of the cut image.   Then, you adhere that to the front of your card using dimensional tape.

As you can see I used the sentiment of Hello Spring but I think with this layout and color scheme it could also be used as a sympathy card. I like the texture of the embossing folder and even though it is subtle I think it gives it a little something more.

This card is extremely easy to achieve and allows for mixed media to be played with a little.  I don't know if anybody else does this but after I made this card and finished it I was thinking that I should have used a little glitter in the flowers for some subtle sparkle.

I hope this card has inspired you to try mixed media and/or to use this Tulips Stamp Set as part of a mixed media creation.

Simple yet fun birthday cards! I thought this one was cute...who doesn't love cupcakes right!?!!?
You will need the following items:
Stamp set 00-374p4-Sweet Treats
Stamp set 416 Happy Birthday
(1) 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 white piece of card stock
(1) 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 printed piece of card stock
(3) 1 1/2 square pieces of blue card stock with the corners rounded
(3) 1 5/8 square pieces of pink card stock with the corners rounded
Black ink
Colors (Copic markers, water colors, etc.)
Versa Mark stamp pad
Black embossing powder
Sakura glue pen
Snow glitter
Ink daubers/ sponge

Stamp your cupcake image and color.  I used my Sakura glue pen on the frosting and covered it with snow glitter and set aside to dry.  On the blue corner rounded squares I used black ink and my ink daubers/sponge around the edges.  I did this technique to my printed card stock.   Adhere your printed piece of card stock to the front of your folded white card stock.  Also adhere your blue squares to the front of your pink squares.  "Happy Birthday" is embossed on the front of the card using my Versa Mark stamp pad and black embossing powder.  I embossed right on the printed card stock page.  Lastly, I adhered the cupcakes to the squares and then added them to the front of my card!

Using the same technique and some of the same tools as above here is another card if a different format.  My husband actually came up with the idea for the cupcakes... :>.
